Malibongwe : One mother transformed = one family changed!
Malibongwe’s mission is to change the lives of women who have children, and have no way of earning a living, by training them and placing them in suitable employment or by helping them to start home businesses where necessary. We provide discipleship and networking, ensuring that they can run self-sustaining homes filled with the love and glory of God.
This is a day programme that runs once a week for 12 weeks with 12 women at a time, three times per year. The mornings are spent doing theory lessons on Basic Life Skills. These topics include finding a job or starting a home business, creating a CV, basic housekeeping, basic cooking, basic childcare and how to open a bank account, and so forth. Afternoons are spent teaching the ladies crafts. We have recently introduced a new micro loan initiative to help the ladies kick start their businesses. For example, one lady bought a hair dryer and started braiding hair, after three weeks she made nearly R2000. Now she is able to support her three children. Two ladies got together and started baking and selling their products. Three ladies started sewing bags which they are selling and making a healthy profit on.
